Fluids like oil, gas and (warm) water can accumulate in porous, subsurface reservoir rocks.
These fluids can be used for heating, mobility and even producing critical chemicals such as medicines! The same subsurface reservoir rocks can also be used to permanently store CO2. There are many varieties of rocks, from volcanic, to carbonate and siliciclastic rocks – no single field is alike. In this workshop we will be looking at many different types of depositional environments and their associated lithologies. After you and your team have discussed the geology and presented your “Top 3 Reservoir Rocks”, we will go into more detail, focusing on the best strategy to develop and produce your field. What volumes are we talking about? What are the subsurface risks? What are the economic risks? How can we supply the world with energy whilst minimizing the environmental impact? You will take into account important factors such as the people, organizations/NGO’s and governments with whom you would need to work.
